Drop Twenty-Two

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (NASB1995).

Tara Leigh Cobble shared this verse and her impressions on New Year’s Day 2024 via the YouVersion Bible app. Like her, the Bible has been accessible throughout my lifetime; however, the point of view that was often taught was one of a book of “do’s and don’ts”. Shifting the point of view of the Bible as offering the opportunity to get to know our Creator, Redeemer, and Friend sounds so much more inviting. Part of learning to serve God from a position of gratitude is getting to know Him through reading His story, His love letter to humanity. May we all pursue a deeper relationship with Him as we read and study the Bible this year.

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your patience with us. Thank you for using all that happens, whether a natural consequence to our own choices or resulting from the choices of others, for our good. Thank you for 2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient towards you, not wishing for any to perish, but all to come to repentance” (NASB1995). We pray for fertile soil in the hearts of those You are patiently waiting for, as well as the message they need to hear to be heard. If any bitterness or unforgiveness is hidden within our hearts, reveal it and remove it so that we may represent You well as Your children.

In Jesus Name we pray,

AMEN
