Drop Twenty-Three

Philippians 4:6 – 7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (NASB1995).

Today is annual “quitters’ day”. Studies have shown that January 12th is the day most people give up on their New Year’s Resolutions. This week my resolve to follow the path of writer and editor has been strengthened. Thankfully, so has my resolve to be quick to listen and forgive while being slow to speak. Capturing negative thoughts and giving them a positive flip is working to improve my focus and trust. One of my resolutions is to “seek and trust the Lord’s leading” the second, “celebrate daily blessings” helps to keep the first. I am trusting that as I work on those two that the third will follow, “reconcile estranged relationships”. I have no intention of quitting.

If your resolutions seem to far out of reach, perhaps adjust them. Don’t give up on what the Lord is calling you to do.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for everything – even the blizzard conditions heading our way. Protect us and guard our thoughts. May we choose to trust you while leaving fear and anxiety behind. Thank You for your leadership. May we choose to have hearts full of forgiveness before we are offended. May we hear more than words, but intentions of the heart of those that may offend.

In Jesus’ Name we pray,

AMEN
