Drop Twenty-One

“Teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.” Psalms 90:12 (NASB).

Recently there was a post commenting on how cool it is that the date for the last day of this year is 123123. Upon seeing that my musical side smiled and imagined all of us waltzing into the new year (1-2-3, 1-2-3). Before we waltz into the new year, it may be wise to reflect on the past year.

Reflecting on the ways that God has transformed our lives over the year of 2023 is mind-blowing. Just realizing His involvement in the many shifts that needed to happen to be here, at this moment writing this for all to see is nothing short of amazing. What shifts needed to happen? Accepting that my previous work is no longer my work to do. Balancing budgets, letting go of our previous home (and many no longer needed belongings), purchase a new, somewhat smaller home hours away from our children and grandchildren which resulted in lowering our debt burden. Choose to transition from working full-time to working as needed in healthcare and editing for a publisher. My husband is the happiest he has been in a long time. So thankful God led us to his happy place. Very curious as to what God will lead us to in 2024 and confident He will prepare us for whatever it is.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for everything. As we prepare for the coming year may we all seek to accept our role as Your children. May we serve out of an overwhelming desire to please You, as You love all of us. Thank You for completely forgiving us through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. May we let go of our past hurts and bask in the healing that You offer to us, while looking to the future You have planned for us. As we learn to number our days, may we remember Your promise given to us through the prophet Jeremiah, “’For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart’” (Jeremiah 29:11 – 13, NASB1995).

In Jesus’ name we pray.

AMEN
