Drop Twenty-Nine

John 1:12

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (NASB 1995).

Many of us have seen a video or two of animals that accept a different type of animal into their family. Sometimes it is a dog and cat, other times a bird and dog but the result is the same – a mutual adoption relationship. People can do the same for each other. Sometimes it is through legal means. Other times, it is just a close friend that accepts a role as an aunt or uncle to the children of their friend. The most wonderful thing is when a child chooses you first. My husband and I have the privilege of being “bonus grandparents” – a title created by one of our “bonus grandchildren”.

God has granted us each the choice to choose Him as Father. In return, we have the privilege, the right, to become His children. How awesome is that?!?

Heavenly Father,

You love us so much! You know us better than we know ourselves. Thank You for the freedom to choose You. There is something powerful about choosing and being chosen. Thank You for allowing us to have a deeper understanding of how beautiful it is to make such a choice. You have loved us before we loved you. Thank You for choosing to train us up in the way we should go (Proverbs 22:6).
