Drop Thirty

John 15:13

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." NASB1995

It has been 13 years since my mother was diagnosed with a debilitating disease process. After 3 years of assistance at home, she accepted becoming a nursing home resident. Within a year and a half, she was admitted to hospice care and five and a half years later she passed into eternity. I have no idea how we would have survived those first 3 years without the help of my best friend since Junior High School. She is the living definition of this description of greater love that is found in scripture. Time and time again, she lays down her preferences for her family, her friends and even strangers.

The last couple days have presented an opportunity to pour love back into the life of this generous friend. I have been doing my best to support her and help with the current circumstances. May God direct our steps and strengthen us as we walk through this time of trial together.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for another day to speak love into the life of our friends, neighbors, family and even strangers. Thank You for laying Your life down for us through the work of Jesus. May we bring honor to You as we serve each other. May the Holy Spirit speak into our lives and may we be sensitive to His prompting and respond well to His leading.

In Jesus' Name we pray,

AMEN
