2 Corinthians 4:16 - 18

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day” (NASB1995).

The death of a Christ follower is grieved by the living for the loss of life in this world while celebrating the transition into eternity with Christ and those who have gone before. At some point, we each must deal with the loss of someone. My father’s death was a shock; my mother’s passing was a welcomed relief. The loss of a child is nothing less than tragic. All deaths remind the living life here is temporary and short.

Today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow is the evil one’s favorite day  - because it never comes. Our days are numbered, and only the Lord knows the tally. Live each day as if it is your last is the advice we often hear. Most importantly, we are called to live on mission for the Lord. We will reap what we sow. Once we step into eternity, our fate is sealed.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for creating and trusting us to minister to each other. Help us to keep our focus on You. May recognize that we are first and foremost Your children. As we seek to strengthen our relationship with You, guide our steps to fulfill Your will. Soften our hearts so that we forgive others. May we reflect Your light in our communities and testify of Your love.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

AMEN
