Drop Thirty-Eight

Psalms 107:28-29

“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distresses. He caused the storm to be still, so that the waves of the sea were hushed” (NASB 1995).

Awakening to the flash of lightning followed by the booming thunder rarely strikes fear within me. Our home is secure. The trees are tall and limber as they dance to the bidding of the strong winds. The ground welcomes the cool rain as it tenderizes the soil pounding in the needed moisture. The garden bed is prepared to welcome the storm. We are thankful for the extra time to plan the garden contents. Planting time is coming.

Scott Krippayne sings “Sometimes He Calms the Storm” and the refrain brings much comfort during the storms of life. Storms will come in the form of turbulent relationships, increased chaos threatening work life balance, loneliness, or so many other possibilities. The refrain of the song reminds us, “Sometimes He calms the storm. And other times, He calms His child.”

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for everything! Thank You for being with us through each trial. Thank You for teaching Your faithfulness in all ways. May we share Your love with those around us. May we remember we our Yours and Your plans for us are greater than the storms.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

AMEN.
