Colossians 3:15 - 16

“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in our hearts to God.” (NASB1995)

Family dysfunction began in the Garden of Eden and continues throughout all generations in varying degrees. Regardless of misunderstanding, misdeeds, missing the mark, we, as Christ followers, are called to love. To do that, we must allow the peace of Christ to rule in our hearts, which requires meditating on the scriptures. I love that we are encouraged to sing songs with thankfulness. There is just something about singing that brings out true joy and ministers to all who hear or participate. Thankfulness and forgiveness starve the root of bitterness. May we be peacemakers, praising and thanking God in all circumstances.

Heavenly Father,

You have created all that is, and yet, You know us by name. We have a choice in every situation to choose Your way or to go our own way. Sometimes it is difficult to clearly see the path You have for us. Help us to praise You, thank You and trust You amid any uncertainty. May we truly seek and share the peace of Christ with those around us.

In Jesus’ name,

AMEN
