2 Timothy 1:7

“For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline” (NASB1995).

Strongholds. Footholds. Whatever is resulting in holding back sharing God’s love with one another is not of God. This world of setting up boundaries for our own protection, rather than working through adversity is resulting in silos of isolation. The writer of Hebrews reminds us to “hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together…but encouraging one another…” (Hebrews 10:23-25). In Matthew 6:12, Jesus teaches that we seek forgiveness as we have forgiven others. Knowing that we who have trusted Christ as Savior have been forgiven completely, we need to extend forgiveness to others.

 Heavenly Father,

Thank You for showing us the depth of your love through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Thank You for your forgiveness. Remove the scales from our eyes so that we can recognize our own failings and reconcile with You and each other. Protect us from the attacks of the evil one and destroy any strongholds that inhibit our willingness to forgive as You forgive and love as You love.

In Jesus’ name,

AMEN
