Psalm 98:4

“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth; Make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise” (KJV).

Relationships are often complicated. Some complications are easily viewed by those who are looking on, while others are better at “keeping up appearances”. Knowing that we are to live in harmony with one another takes me back to my middle school orchestra days. While learning to play our instruments often we were making joyful noises while trying to harmonize. An interesting thing about music is just missing the right note by a half or quarter step is so much worse than harmonizing two notes away. Sometimes it seems that since our family has seen and heard us just miss the mark, they are prepared for our sour notes – even hear echoes of them in the present. The new year is just under a week away. While starting something new, it may be best to let go of some old things first: grudges, hurt, negative emotions, etc.. When they come sneaking into our thoughts may we remember to forgive others as Christ has forgiven us and praise God.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the hope we have in Jesus. Thank You for accepting His sacrifice as full payment for our debt of sin. Thank You for providing opportunities for us to become more like Jesus, including accepting Your forgiveness through His payment. May we remember what we have been saved from and extend Your grace and forgiveness to others. May we truly live in harmony and feel free to make  “joyful noises” as we praise You.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
