Drop Seventy
Romans 12:14-16
“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward on another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation” (NASB1995).
Have you ever been so amazed at what is happening in your life that you just could not contain the joy? There is nothing more disheartening than to have that joy misunderstood as boasting. It reminds me of a story I once heard about crabs in a bucket. Crabs collected in a bucket could all escape if they work together, however, inevitably when one starts to climb out, the others reach up and pull it back down into the bucket. During this holiday season, may we set our hearts and minds on the things above by encouraging one another and building each other up. May we listen to what others are saying. May we join them in their joy or their sorrow as appropriate.
Father in Heaven,
We praise You for who You are – Creator, Redeemer, Father and Friend. We thank You for saving us from the consequences of our sins. May we see one another through Your eyes and may we allow our hearts to be filled with Your compassion. May we truly love our neighbors as ourselves.
In the name of Jesus we pray,
AMEN
