Drop Four

I do not run, unless it is the vacuum, dishwasher, washing machine, etc. Otherwise, I do not run. It has never been “my thing”. I do walk the annual 5k in our area. Even with the planned move, I chose to participate again. This year, I made a new friend. Until the end. She encouraged me to run.

When I dressed for the 5k, I chose the right shoes for walking, but certainly not for running. I had forgotten that I had gone all “girl” at the end of my choices. The reason the shoes were not the best for running is that they are a little big. Great for walking, not for running. My running shoes are black. My walking shoes are white. My outfit was pastels. I went for the look not the need.

One misstep was all it took. My left foot caught on the pavement and my right was not quick enough to prevent the forward fall. I was face down on the pavement. My water bottle made a nice pillow. One of the security men on the sidelines helped me to my feet. I had pulled a muscle in the fall and limped over the finish line. I considered going to the physical therapy station near the finish line, but instead just walked to my car. I did a few stretches and then drove home. Epsom salt bath was next so I could head to the church to work on a project. I let my daughter know that I crashed and burned at the end of the 5k. I told her that I forgot one thing. Before I could finish she responded, “That you don’t run?” I laughed and stated, “Okay, I forgot two things 😊.

I am recovering well. Pride comes before the fall – and is bruised during the fall 😉.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28 NASB 1995)
