Hebrews 10:23 – 25

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near” (NASB1995).

This week is a big birthday week. New friends, family, prior colleagues, and even yours truly have been celebrating and celebrated this first week of June. My two favorite gifts – a blue tinted orchid and nearly five uninterrupted hours with my best friend since 6thgrade. The first week of the month also incorporates the monthly luncheon with the ladies from church. My husband brought home a large, frosted cookie stating, “Happy Birthday”. Knowing the cookie was a bit more than either of us needed, I used my writing icing to add the name of one of the ladies that has a June birthday with my own. While leaving the house with the cookie in hand, the DJ on the radio was talking about the importance of sharing a meal with others. Smiling, I happily proceeded to the gathering. No one knew it was my birthday week until I let them know with the sharing of the cookie. It was such a fun way to celebrate and enjoy our time together.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You again for the way You work in us and through us. For so long I have heard only verse 25 of this passage, although it is only the last part of a three-verse sentence. It seems now to address more than gathering for church services. May we be inspired to help encourage each other to good deeds through everyday opportunities. May we be sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit as we interact both inside and outside our homes.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

AMEN
