Genesis 22:1-2

“Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I will tell you” (NASB1995).

We humans can be so forgetful. During struggles we seek God’s will and when all seems to be going well, we fix our eyes on the things He has given rather than Him. There are times the talents He has given us have commitments and deadlines which distract from the purpose He intended. When that happens, creativity may become stagnant. What once came easily becomes a burden. Our gifts and talents are our “Isaac”. When we focus on them and not God, our focus changes and so do our motives. Place the gifts and talents that God has given you onto the alter. Return to Him. Center your focus back on pleasing the Lord. Let Him guide your steps to do His will and serve the purpose He has given to you.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gifts and talents that You have given to each of us. May we seek to use them to glorify You so that others will come to know You. Thank You for allowing us to see how easily our motives can be modified and for directing our steps back to the path You have provided.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

AMEN
