Luke 21:33

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away”(NASB1995).

My graduation gift to myself nearly 11 years ago was a laptop computer with 1TB of memory. My hope was that it would be my last purchase of a laptop. Come October of this year, it will be obsolete as the Windows 10 operating system will no longer be updated, and this computer cannot support the up-and-coming Windows 11 and beyond. Sadly, our desktop computer has the same problem.

In the same year, come to think of it, we also bought my car. The goal was that it would be my last. It now has over 212,000 miles, a few minor issues, and it may need to be replaced soon.

Often our culture touts “the only constant is change”. The author of Hebrews points to the one exception – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (NASB1995). In this ever-changing world, may we trust God to remain constant as He changes us to become more like Him.

Heavenly Father,

So many things are changing so quickly. Thank You for being our stable rock in the midst of the winds of change. You are our only hope. Many are celebrating this season of Lent, remembering Your sacrifice to save us from the wages of sin. So thankful that your love for us is not contingent on our ability to love but teaches us how to love. Your all-sufficient grace is sufficient for each of us. May we pass it on.

In the name of Jesus,

AMEN
