Colossians 3:17

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father“ (NASB1995).

Today has been a struggle. My motives for helping with an unplanned family event are in question within my heart. The line between pride-fullness and humility with thanksgiving is very fine. The battle rages in my mind. The old “people pleasing” self is bullying its way in. I do not want to be self-righteousness. Without Christ, I have no righteousness. Without God’s provision, I have nothing to offer. Without God, all I have and all am is nothingness. As our family gathers to celebrate the life one who has preceded us into eternity, may we be filled with more joy than sorrow. May we remember her well. May we love each other well.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You. Thank You for creating us for your pleasure. Thank You for all the days we have in our lives. May we seek to serve You at every stage a bit better than the previous. You sacrificed everything so our lives have meaning – with You. Protect us from the temptations and distractions of this world. May we follow You throughout this and every day. May we be so filled with Your love, that others are drawn to You.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
