1 John 4:36

“We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him” (NASB1995).

My husband states every year that Valentine’s Day is a “Hallmark Holiday” – invented for the sale of cards and candy. As much as he discredits the holiday, this year he has truly surprised me. Just before I left for work, he handed me a pink bag covered with hearts. Within the bag was a glass globe style vase with sand, a heart and succulent plant with pink blossoms. I thanked him, we exchanged the “Happy Valentine’s Day” salutation, and I took it to work and placed in on my desk. After I returned home and our dog attempted to begin a chase in the snow, I found a card on the stereo with Snoopy warning of the possibility of random hugs! I laughed and set it down. My husband came inside and asked if I liked the card. I stated, “Yes, and I had planned a way to let you know.” He was looking through the refrigerator and I asked him to look my way. When he did, I exclaimed, “Random Hug”. We hugged and laughed. Then I went into the washroom to prepare for singing practice only to find a small Russell Stover heart with chocolates inside. I returned to my husband stating, “For someone who doesn’t think much of this holiday, you seem to have had a lot of fun!” He smiled and I thanked him.  I did make a Banana Cream pie for Valentine’s Day – his favorite.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for teaching us to love. Every day there is an opportunity to inspire each other. May we seek to know You better and demonstrate Your love while it is being perfected within us.

In the name of Jesus we pray,

AMEN
