Drop Eighteen

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." (NASB 1995)

"It's a Wonderful Life" introduces us to George Bailey. This name is well suited for our beloved main character as George is defined: farmer; earth worker and Bailey, by one definition means: city fortification. George is a hard worker, problem solver, and sacrifices his goals and dreams in leu of the needs of the Bedford Falls community. The beginning of the movie starts with the prayers being lifted to the Lord on behalf of George. We learn why he has grown weary and how close he is to the answer to his current problem. At the end of the movie, he learns that all he has done to help the community is so appreciated, that everyone is excited to be able to help him in return. A true fulfilling of Ecclesiastes 11:1, "Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you will find it after many days." (NASB 1995).

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the purpose You have given each of us. May we seek Your face during our times of gladness and sorrow. Sometimes we can get so lost in our to do list that we forget how many relationships that we have built. During the hustle of this holiday season, may we humble ourselves and seek help from our community when we have need and may we be generous as You have called us to be when we can.

Thank You for rest when we are weary and strength for each moment.

In Jesus' name,

AMEN
