Isaiah 30:15

“For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel has said, ‘In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.’ But you were not willing,” (NASB1995).

Pursuing peace rarely results in peace. Sometimes we believe an opportunity to join with another is an alliance blessed by God, only to find it was a distraction preventing full dependence upon Him. In Isaiah 30, the prophet is warning Judah against an Egyptian Alliance. Judah was warned. An alliance was made – prior to consulting with God regarding the matter.

Peace is part of the fruit of the Spirit. If we are lacking peace, it is “in repentance and rest [we] will be saved” (Isaiah 30:15). As we confess our wrongs and rest, He will restore us. Trust the Lord to right the wrongs. We merely need to humbly confess and trust Him with the rest. The Holy Spirit will guide. Those who belong to Christ will hear Him in quietness.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us despite our imperfections. Thank You that the blood of Jesus, Your only Son, covers our sins. We just must confess and trust Him. Thank You for the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Calm our hearts and minds. May Your thoughts become our thoughts. May Your ways become our ways. May the stumbling blocks of today be the stepping stones of tomorrow.

In Jesus’ Name we pray,

AMEN
